My Purpose: To share a vision of our people and a lifestyle many can only dream of living
A Place that's always been, Alaskanative.life
Bristol Bay Native Corporation is working to bring jobs to it's regional villages. One way of promoting job growth is through the arts community. In 2015, in partnership with their subsidiary, Mission Lodge, based out of Aleknagik, AK, they launched AlaskaNative.Life. This new site is aimed at working with artists to sell their work to a larger audience. For more information, visit the website, AlaskaNative.Life
Start small. dream big.
Alaska Children's Trust, "Sometimes it’s the smallest things that make the biggest difference. Like the small child with the big dream, who grows up to achieve big things. And the small steps we can all take to make a big difference in the lives of Alaska’s kids and families.Through our Start Small. Dream Big. campaign, we hope to inspire all Alaskans to recognize the big potential of our littlest community members, and to take those little steps that can make such a big difference in their lives and the future health and success of our community."
If you really know Yup'ik people, you understand our need to share with and care for one another. You understand that subsistence, although doesn't gain us monetary profits, gains us mental and physical wellness. Wealth in our villages goes far beyond bank accounts and dives deep into our full freezers and the generosity of our family. Subsistence is a way of life that encompasses happiness that politics and "jobs" will never replace. The greed that Pebble Mine offers is what our elders have told us will destroy our relationships with each other and our environment. If we feed our land and water toxic mining waste, that is what we will be eating too. Subsistence is our way of life. #SaveBristolBay
